Pine Hill Fire Department is always looking for new members to fill our ranks as Active Firefighters for our Live-In and Duty Crew programs.

Requirements for the volunteer position of FIREFIGHTER RECRUIT:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
  • Be of good health and physical ability
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • No previous training is required
  • Participation in the duty crew program (minimum of one shift per week) to ensure station staffing


Once a member has attained specific levels of training and experience through the set course path, they are eligible to participate in any and all of the duties and functions of a firefighter. Some of the general duties that one could expect to perform as a volunteer firefighter include:

  • Fire suppression
  • Rescue of victims trapped by fire or motor vehicle accidents
  • Assist in treatment of victims experiencing medical and traumatic emergencies
  • Driving and maintaining emergency vehicles
  • Providing various public assistance, investigations and educational services

Pine Hill Fire Department Duty Crew Program

Pine Hill Fire Department is now accepting applications for our Duty Crew Program. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are willing to learn and participate in our departmental endeavors. In this modern age, we commit ourselves to getting the job done right the first time, every time. We take an aggressive approach to firefighting and rescue scenarios and employ tactics well proven in urban and suburban settings to keep the public safe each time they call on us.

The duty crew covers a "night side" shift, opposite the daytime career staff. These members are responsible to staff the fire apparatus from 6PM to 11PM on their designated duty night. All members of the program will be provided with full turnout PPE and SCBA mask. Access to sleeping quarters, a full sized gym, locker room/shower facilities, kitchen and free Wi-Fi internet are available to our duty crew membership.

Prerequisites for the Duty Crew Program

  • NJ State Firefighter I certification
  • NJSP Hazardous Materials Operations Level certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • NJ State Vehicle Extrication I certification


*NJ State Emergency Medical Technician and any additional fire or rescue related certifications preferred, but not required. Out of state certifications will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Pine Hill, NJ residency is NOT required.
